Leeds United moved back to the top of the Championship table with a win over Hull City on Tuesday night and there were a number of impressive individual performances.
The Whites won away at Hull and centre-forward Tyler Roberts scored the decisive goal in a 1-0 victory, as his long-range effort was arrowed into the bottom corner.
Marcelo Bielsa’s side picked up their first clean sheet in three games and dealt well with everything thrown at their backline.
Leeds’ 6ft 4in man mountain Pontus Jansson was at the heart of the resilient defence and proved that he is now back to his brilliant best.
The no-nonsense centre-back turned in a great display away to Hull, as he made a number of tackles and interceptions, while also proving his quality in bringing the ball out from the back too.
He had to be patient at the beginning of the campaign to break into the starting XI, but is now a permanent feature under Bielsa and is recapturing his top levels at Elland Road.
Jansson, 27, looks set to play a vital role in the push for promotion this campaign and is one of the outstanding defenders in the division when he is on form.
The Sweden international is beginning to show he has the technical ability to play out from the back for Bielsa’s side, while his defensive qualities are coming to the fore.
