Pontus Jansson has a message for Leeds fans on Instagram, after Brentford draw

Pontus Jansson has sent a message to Leeds United fans on Instagram after the Whites scored a late equaliser to draw 2-2 against Brentford – as Patrick Bamford had the final say at Elland Road.

Bamford, 28, came off the bench to make his first Premier League appearance in his side’s last 11. A troublesome ankle injury kept the England international sidelined much longer than he had expected.

But he was on hand to poke home Luke Ayling’s flick-on from a Raphinha corner to earn Leeds a point against Brentford, in a match that was even throughout. Leeds took the lead.

Raphinha was involved in the first goal, too. He curled a delightful cross into the near post for Tyler Roberts to slide the ball past Alvaro Fernandez. But Brentford started the second 45 better.

Shandon Baptiste got an equaliser, before Sergi Canos finished superbly to put Brentford 2-1 just after the hour mark. Leeds pushed and pushed, and made it 2-2 late on. Jansson responded.

, Jansson won four headers – more than any of his Brentford teammates. He also enjoyed more touches, and produced a whopping 14 clearances throughout the match.

While the game was even, Jansson’s stats suggest it was a backs-to-the-wall job. It certainly was for the last 15 minutes, with Jansson looking as if he would stop his old side.

But Bamford has a knack of being in the right position at the right time and he proved as much on Sunday.
