Pontus Jansson applauds Leeds defender on Twitter after Monday display
Liam Cooper continued to prove doubters wrong on Monday night with another excellent performance for Leeds United during a 2-0 win over Crystal Palace at Elland Road – and Pontus Jansson has sent a touching and classy message to the Leeds skipper.
Cooper, 29, has come in for criticism at times this season after making the step up with Leeds for the first time to Premier League football. The left-footer was accused of a lack of pace, while injuries hampered his progress.
But the Scotland international has now managed to stay injury free for five consecutive Premier League matches after recovering from the muscle problem that he suffered in the 6-2 loss against Manchester United.
On Monday, he impressed once again as Leeds kept their first clean sheet of 2021 with a 2-0 win over Palace – getting the better of Jean-Philippe Mateta, who was linked with Leeds in January. Cooper posted on Twitter after the match.
Some night under the lights! Congrats to the boys 200 up. on 💯 career goals! Some achievements. All focus on a trip to the emirates🙏🏻 MOT

The win sees Leeds climb into tenth place in the Premier League after 22 matches and there has been some talk about potentially pushing for the European spots, as the Whites continue to excel under Marcelo Bielsa.
Jansson, who was sold by Bielsa despite being a favourite of the Leeds fans and a partner at the back alongside Cooper, responded to his old teammate’s Tweet. He applauded the ex-Chesterfield man, stating he is “happy” to see Leeds doing well.
Sweden international Jansson remains captain of second-placed Championship side Brentford, but is currently out injured.
You had a fantastic game my friend. Happy to see and follow your journey in Prem ❤️👏
