Plymouth boss issues verdict on Tottenham loanee Alfie Devine’s debut display
Plymouth Argyle boss Ian Foster has issued his verdict on the performance of Alfie Devine as the Tottenham Hotspur youngster made his debut for the Championship side on Saturday.
Alfie Devine𝐆 went straight into the Pilgrims side for their clash with Cardiff City at Home Park. The 19-year-old joined Foster’s men for the rest of the campaign after spending the first-half of the season on loan at Port Vale.
Of course, Tottenham fans already had reason to keep one eye on Plymouth’s results with Ashley Phillips arriving earlier in the window. The centre-back has already made a big impression.

🗹Certainly, Foster – who was speaking to – was impressed as he discussed the displays of both Devine and Adam Forshaw, who also signed for the club during the week.
ꦫ“They’ve been excellent because they’ve only had two days,” Foster said. “Alfie’s had two days with us, Adam’s had one, [and they’ve taken in] an awful lot of information.
🅘“It may be easier for Alfie in that he’s played for me previously, but Adam hasn’t. Adam and I had a couple of hours together yesterday afternoon, just going through how we want to play. To put in the performance that they both did is really pleasing.”

♍It is going to be interesting to see how Devine gets on over the remaining months of the season. He shone in League One. But stepping up to the Championship with a new team midway though the campaign is going to be a really tough task.
♏He is off to a really good start. Devine also made three key passes during the win over the Bluebirds, according to . Only Ryan Hardie managed more on either side.
🌄If both Devine and Phillips can impress while at Home Park, it will definitely send a message to Ange Postecoglou ahead of the summer.
