Plenty of Rangers fans not happy with James Tavernier’s performance

Rangers’ inconsistent form in the Scottish Premiership continued this afternoon. Steven Gerrard’s men went down to a 1-0 defeat at Livingston. Dolly Menga’s first-half attempt proved enough for a Livi win and left Rangers sixth in the table.

It was certainly hard to pick out a bad performance from Rangers today. The overall level was so poor, nobody stood out.

But it seems many Rangers fans were in agreement regarding one player. James Tavernier had a difficult afternoon at right-back. But it was not so much the performance that had the Ibrox faithful criticising his display on Twitter. The main issue revolves around his captaincy.

Rangers fans were not sold on ‘Tav’ being handed the armband in the first place and after today most would like to see a new man get the role.

It seems many of the Glasgow club’s fans believe that Tavernier lacks the leadership qualities that Rangers need in such close games to spur the team on.

Fans seem to believe veteran goalkeeper Allan McGregor might be a better fit and more likely to push the team through tough times.

It must be said that Tavernier has improved vastly this season and his form has been good. Rangers fans will therefore hope today is just a minor bump in the road for their captain…
