Player Arsenal sold for £25m in 2021 could now be sold for double that amount in the summer

The days when Arsenal often sold their best players to their rivals are now thankfully in the past, the club is now in a much stronger position.

Unlike Arsene Wenger experienced, Mikel Arteta would never be pushed to sell his prize assets, neither William Saliba or Bukayo Saka are going anywhere.

But as we saw during Arsenal’s transition to the Emirates stadium under Wenger’s stewardship, tough decisions had to be made.

And although Arteta’s side are in a much better position, there’s still the feeling that better work could be done with player sales.

More often than not, Arsenal are accepting fees which are perceived to be below the market value for their players.

And whilst that wasn’t necessarily the case with Joe Willock, who Arsenal sold for to Newcastle United in 2021, he could now be worth a lot more.

According to , who were summarising Newcastle’s most valuable assets following their struggles with profit and loss parameters, Willock could now be worth £50m.

The report explains that Newcastle are unlikely to want to lose Willock in the summer, but it remains an option.

Joe Willock could be sold for double the price Arsenal let him go to Newcastle for

Since joining Newcastle, 24-year-old Willock has proved that he has excellent ball-carrying ability, a midfielder who still possesses a lot of potential.

In fact, Willock could be an excellent choice in Arsenal’s number eight position that is causing so many issues.

That’s not to say that Arsenal should return with a bid for Willock, they’ve moved on.

However, with Arteta’s squad now a lot better settled, Arsenal need to be more efficient in the market.

It can never be satisfying for Arsenal to see a player they sold now worth almost double in the market just a few years later.

Perhaps the club run that exact risk with both Eddie Nketiah and Emile Smith Rowe – two Hale End graduates who might leave the club this year.

That being said, Arsenal have made a very good decision sending one £18m player on loan this year who’s improving his reputation all the time.
