Pickford’s performance against Spain is concerning for Everton

Jordan Pickford was one of the stars of the World Cup for England, but his performance against Spain was a worrying one. The goalkeeper didn’t look comfortable and made one huge error, which nearly cost his team a goal.

It was one of the best England team performances for some time, especially in the first-half. Pickford contributed to that with some excellent distribution, but his work between the posts was questionable.

For the first Spain goal, it was a spill from Pickford that resulted in a corner being awarded. Meanwhile, his dive for the goal wasn’t executed well.

However, his big error came as he dallied on the ball and was robbed by Rodrigo. Pickford then prevented a goal being scored, but his tackle could have led to a penalty.

There is no doubting that Pickford is a talented goalkeeper with a lot of potential. He also seems to have a character that will help him get over mistakes, but he isn’t the finished article.

Everton supporters will have watched on Monday with mixed. On the one hand, a big mistake came when he wasn’t playing for the Toffees. On the other, it was a second-half performance that lacked confidence.

Pickford will need to get forget about the two mistakes he made in Betis, otherwise, his club form could start to suffer.
