Philippe Coutinho-like gem who Marcel Brands would bring to Everton ‘tomorrow’ named in world’s top youngsters list
A player who Everton director of football Marcel Brands would bring to Goodison Park “tomorrow” has made of top players born on or after 1 January 2001.
Mohammed Ihattaren has made a huge impact after coming through the ranks at PSV Eindhoven.
The attacking midfielder, who only turned 18 in February, made his professional debut in January 2019 but is already closing in on a half-century of senior games under his belt.
As well as making 45 appearances, Ihattaren has already registered nine goals and nine assists.
Already there have been some developments to suggest that the teenager could be on the move sooner rather than later.
In January, reported that Ihattaren had made Mino Raiola his agent.
A month later, the PSV prodigy revealed a desire to one day join a bigger club, stating that the Italian agent was in charge of his future.
And Brands, a man who has a great working relationship with Raiola, had told last year: “To be honest, I would like to have him with Everton tomorrow, he is that good.”
So how good is Ihattaren? According to , he is the eighth-best youngster in world football.
“Netherlands pulled out all the stops to persuade Mohamed Ihattaren to ignore a senior international call-up from Morocco, his parents’ homeland, and pledge his future to Oranje,” wrote the outlet.
“The attacking midfielder, who turned 18 in February, only made his professional debut in January 2019 but has already established himself as one of PSV’s most important players.
“Ihattaren recently told Goal: “I must admit that I don’t really like talking about myself, but I do think I’ve got something special.” Everyone connected with Dutch football would wholeheartedly agree.”

To be ranked at number eight in a list of the top 50 young prodigies in world football is quite a feat, and given he’s a fairly realistic prospective signing for Everton, the Toffees should definitely pull out all the stops to try to recruit him.
A versatile, creative, technically gifted attacker, has compared his style of play to Philippe Coutinho, while PSV youth coach Mark van Bommel previously told about him: “He has the quality with the ball that is extraordinary for his age.”
Those, along with the top-ten ranking in Goal’s NxGn list, are ringing endorsements about a player who looks set to become a superstar.
