‘Phenomenal’: Some Rangers fans wowed by £16k-a-week man’s ‘outstanding’ display today
A number of Glasgow Rangers fans have waxed lyrical about Scott Arfield’s performance as Steven Gerrard’s charges brought three points back to Ibrox from across the city.
The Gers went into the Old Firm clash top of the Premiership table but just a point clear of Celtic, who also have a game in hand.
Neil Lennon’s side ended up being comprehensively outplayed as Rangers ran out 2-0 winners, with Connor Goldson netting in the ninth minute and again on 54 minutes.

The Gers centre-back timed his run superbly to nod home James Tavernier’s free kick for the opener early on at Parkhead.
Goldson, who had only scored six Scottish Premiership goals in more than two seasons at Ibrox, then added his second nine minutes into the second half.
Arfield was the architect with his low ball into the box being met by the Rangers defender, who poked home at the second attempt.
As well as providing an assist, Arfield worked hard throughout the game and was a constant presence at both ends of the pitch.
The 31-year-old has come on in leaps and bounds in recent weeks, his attacking intent and willingness to press unsettling opposition defences, as was the case today.
Plenty of Bears on social media had kind words to say about the £ ace during and after the match:
