‘Phenomenal’ player has just greenlit potential blockbuster move to Newcastle this summer

Newcastle United could be set to see their summer transfer suddenly take off after over a month of minimal business.

The large parts of Newcastle‘s summer transfer activity has seen players like Elliot Anderson and Yankuba Minteh leave the club to balance the books against PSR.

Eddie Howe has certainly cast a frustrated figure on Tyneside with the Toon boss admitting he wants to see players brought in sooner rather than later.

Now deep into their pre-season efforts, Newcastle have only really seen Lloyd Kelly signed on a free that could really effect the starting XI.

But the frustrations could soon be lifted at St James’ Park with one of their top summer targets now open to making the move to the north east.

Newcastle’s ‘phenomenal’ summer target open to joining

Considering the embarrassment of riches that the Newcastle owners have, there will be huge frustrations at the club over their inability to establish themselves in the market.

A large part of that came down to June’s PSR deadline which saw Newcastle stare a points deduction in the face.

However, Newcastle are now believed to be out of the woods when it comes to their finances and they are still yet to splash any cash.

Paul Mitchell is now at the helm of transfer operations but he has been unable to work his magic just yet, but that could soon change.

According to , Marc Guehi would be open to making the move to Newcastle this summer.

Newcastle opened negotiations with Crystal Palace for Guehi on Friday with a deal said to be ‘difficult’.

The Magpies are not, however, the only side who have shown interest in Guehi this summer with most of the big six credited.

Guehi has two years remaining on his Palace contract which will put the Eagles in a strong position to negotiate.

How much will Marc Guehi cost Newcastle?

Interest in Guehi has been strong for a while now with the report linking the likes of Arsenal, Manchester City and Tottenham Hotspur to the centre-back.

But his ‘phenomenal‘ performances for Palace and then England at this summer’s Euros will have only increased his asking price.

The report claims Palace value the 24-year-old in excess of £70m which would make him Newcastle’s record signing.

It is a staggering amount of money, but Guehi has age one his side and has shown the potential to be a leading centre-back for the years to come in the Premier League.
