‘Phenomenal’ player has already had part of Tottenham medical and could join soon

Tottenham Hotspur appear to be closing in on their first permanent signing of the summer transfer window.

Ange Postecoglou has already opted to extend Timo Werner’s loan deal by a further season but Tottenham are yet to bolster the Aussie’s options.

It’s no secret that Spurs are on the lookout for fresh faces in the middle of the park, with Aston Villa’s Jacob Ramsey and Chelsea star Conor Gallagher of interest.

The Lilywhites could also be forced into the market for more options at full-back as Emerson Royal seems destined to head out the door this summer.

And their latest move in the transfer market would certainly address that issue while also providing another option in midfield.

Archie Gray has completed first part of Tottenham medical

Spurs are closing in on a deal to snap up talented Leeds United youngster Archie Gray.

There is growing confidence within Spurs that a deal with Leeds will be struck as the Championship outfit bid to raise funds.

Now, with Tottenham stepping up their attempts to beat the likes of Arsenal and Manchester City to Gray’s signature, the youngster has reportedly already completed the first part of his medical at Hotspur Way.

Sky Sports journalist Lyall Thomas claims that final negotiations are underway and the expectation is that Gray will complete a switch to north London.

Gray’s stats for Leeds last season

The 18-year-old enjoyed a ‘’ breakthrough season at Elland Road where he racked up 52 appearances, netting once and providing two assists.

Gray quickly established himself as a mainstay in Daniel Farke’s side, mainly operating at right-back.

Naturally a midfielder, Gray is widely viewed as one of the brightest English prospects coming through the ranks right now.

The signing would also make plenty of sense for Postecoglou as the Aussie is keen on strengthening at full-back and in midfield.

Gray would be able to cover both positions at Spurs and his ability to play in the middle of the park makes him an ideal fit for an inverted full-back role under Postecoglou.
