‘Phenomenal£27m Tottenham man was magic yesterday, he deserves start alongside Brennan Johnson vs West Ham

After another late win for Tottenham Hotspur yesterday, it wasn’t just Brennan Johnson who should have booked his starting spot against West Ham United.

As has often been the case this season, Ange Postecoglou watched his Spurs leave it late to secure three points in north London.

No one will be surprised by the spirit Luton Town showed early on, even if some may have not expected to go 1-0 down.

But eventually Tottenham were able to deservedly win, dispatching a few of their chances late on.

Son Heung-min scored the winner, albeit via a deflection, something that Spurs fans have become accustomed to.

However, perhaps it wasn’t Son that deserved all of the praise yesterday, with Tottenham’s subs making a huge impact off of the bench.

Brennan Johnson’s influence was clear for all to see, providing the assist for his captain’s late winner,

And whilst Johnson was celebrated for his performance, perhaps Giovani Lo Celso’s contribution went slightly unnoticed.

The Argentina international was excellent in his 22 minutes, and may have earned himself a start on Tuesday.

Tottenham pair Brennan Johnson and Giovani Lo Celso deserve to start against West Ham

Replacing Pape Matar Sarr in the 68th minute, who wasn’t poor by any means, Lo Celso was incredibly busy in his cameo.

With the game poised at 1-1, Lo Celso made a huge difference with his industry in the middle, making waves both defensively and going forward.

Via , Lo Celso was able to make one big chance, win three duels and also make one interception and tackle.

The looked like he was playing for his place in the side, determined to force his way into the XI.

And although it would be a big call to take Sarr out of the Tottenham team against West Ham, both Lo Celso and Johnson could really provide some fresh impetus from the off.

Similarly it would be a bold move to take Dejan Kulusevski out of the XI, even if he wasn’t quite providing the right balance with how much he was inverting yesterday.

But all considered, these are very positive problems for Postecoglou, who will just be desperate for his side to stop going behind in games.

That being said, Martin Keown absolutely loved Brennan Johnson’s pacey display yesterday.Â
