Peter Crouch shares why Dane Scarlett is reminding him of Harry Kane at Tottenham
Tottenham Hotspur have made a real name for themselves as a football club that gives youth a chance.
💃In recent years, Spurs have signed numerous young talents who have become first-team stars, such as Destiny Udogie, Pape Matar Sarr and Archie Gray.
Tottenham൩ have also been putting a lot of effort into their academy setup and they’re starting to reap the rewards.
On Thursday night, three academy players – Dane Scarlett, Damola Ajayi and Mikey Moore𝔉 – all scored in Spurs’ 3-0 Europa League win over Elfsborg.
Peter Crouchꩵ, speaking after the game, spoke about Scarlett’s career so far and why the young Tottenham forward is reminding him of Harry Kane.

Peter Crouch compares Dane Scarlett’s career trajectory with that of Harry Kane
🦂Crouch, speaking on TNT Sports, noted how Scarlett has taken in a number of loan spells in recent years.
🔯The 20-year-old has played for Portsmouth, Ipswich Town and Oxford United, the latter spell only coming to an end earlier this month.
♓Crouch also noted how Kane was often out on loan in his early years at Spurs before going on to become one of the clubs’ best ever players.
⛄“I don’t think you should be disheartened when you go out on loan,” said the former Tottenham forward. “You have to have experiences.
🐈“There was a certain number nine, Harry Kane, at this football club that went on loan to Leyton Orient, Millwall, Leicester, and ended up becoming a legend of this club.
ℱ“Of course that is a lot for Dane Scarlett to live up to, that calibre of player. But when he came on I thought his all round game was brilliant.
🍎“He held the ball up well, he set up the second goal, his touches around the box too.
💖“His movement was really good and he gets on the end of the Dejan Kulusevski cross and his confidence grows from there.”
🅠Crouch also shared how a fan told him Tottenham should just use the academy stars rather than signing other players this month.
What Scarlett plans to do now
🍨Scarlett, speaking after the game, admitted he had been waiting for this moment for a long time.
✱He’s now eager to kick on and attempt to stake a claim for a spot in Ange Postecoglou’s first-team.
𒀰“It was amazing,” said Scarlett. “I have been waiting for that moment for a long time.
♛“I have been on loan and experienced men’s football. I feel really good now. Ready to kick on. Very happy.
༒“I have just been training hard with a clear mind and waiting for the opportunity. Today it came and I am just grateful that the team won.”
𒅌With Scarlett now set to stay at Tottenham as he cannot go out on loan again this season, he now has the chance to win Postecoglou over for good.
