Peter Crouch says Tottenham could do worse than appoint Rafa Benitez

Peter Crouch has told the that Rafa Benitez could be a decent option to replace Jose Mourinho at Tottenham Hotspur.

The Portuguese incumbent left the North London-based club last month with Ryan Mason in temporary charge of proceedings.

Benitez has been out of work since leaving Chinese outfit  Dalian earlier this year and is looking for a way back into football.

“I could not have any more admiration for Rafa. The man is a football obsessive and when I see pictures of him walking his dogs, I expect them to be in formation! His attention to detail is exemplary and he devotes every second to the game.

“In terms of Tottenham, he wouldn’t be the worst should. He’s proven at the highest level, his CV is superb – there are worse candidates, for sure.”

Benitez has won countless trophies during an extensive managerial career.

At Valencia, he helped them to two league titles and a UEFA Cup, before moving to Liverpool and winning the Champions League and FA Cup.

At Chelsea, he didn’t prove a popular appointment but that didn’t stop him from helping the team to the Europa League crown in 2012/13.

Newcastle fans adore him and he led them back into the Premier League by winning the second tier in 2016/17.

Benitez is meticulous and he’d relish the chance to manage the likes of Harry Kane, Son Heung-min and Pierre Emile-Hojbjerg.

His teams are built around determination and hard work and with vast experience, he could be capable of leading the club to some much-needed silverware.

Tottenham are seeing their potential candidates dwindle by the day and as Crouch says, they could do a lot worse than Benitez.
