Peter Crouch reacts to Dele Alli’s display in Spurs win

Peter Crouch that Dele Alli was magnificent as Tottenham Hotspur booked their spot in the last 16 of the Europa League on Wednesday.

Despite already having one foot in the next round after the first-leg, Jose Mourinho named a strong side for the home tie against Wolfsberger. It was Dele who started in the number 10 role.

And he had vindicated his selection inside 10 minutes in North London. The 24-year-old scored an outrageous overhead kick to put Spurs in front.

He then went on to produce two assists as Tottenham won 4-0 to storm into the next stage of the competition.

And while Crouch insisted that the opposition were poor, he suggested that Dele proved a real point with his contribution to the performance.

“Wolfsberger weren’t great, so we can’t get too carried away,” . “But what I saw from Dele tonight was magnificent. You can only beat what’s in front of you.

“He was first class, he looked like he had a bit of a swagger back. He set up two goals, scored an absolute worldie, you can’t ask for more really.”

When Dele was struggling, some Spurs fans held out hope that the England international may be able to emulate Tanguy Ndombele.

It was Ndombele who could not get into the team at times last season. And it was difficult to see how the Frenchman could stay for another year.

However, Ndombele has been a revelation at times this term. And it appears that Dele may well be about to emulate him by coming back from the brink in some style.
