Peter Crouch praises Liverpool match-winner Roberto Firmino

Roberto Firmino struck late to hand Liverpool at three points against Tottenham Hotspur, to send the Reds top of the Premier League.

The Brazilian popped up in the 90th minute at Anfield last night to score a header for Jurgen Klopp’s side to spark scenes of jubilation for the 2000-strong crowd.

It was a great moment for the 29-year-old, who has seen the goals dry up in recent times.

His bullet header was of high quality though, and Peter crouch – – had his say on the player after the game.

“He doesn’t score many – not as many as the others anyway,” he said. “[Diogo] Jota’s come in and put him under a lot of pressure. People have been asking ‘should he be in the team?’

“He adds so much to the Liverpool team, and obviously that celebration, you could see the relief and the adrenaline pumping through him. It was a great moment for him.”

It was a big moment for Firmino, who people have been asking all sorts of questions of this season.

With Sadio Mane and Mo Salah at his side, it seems people expect the £29 million star () to deliver the same sort of goalscoring rate.

The two stars will always be more prolific though, but Firmino must seek to kick on from his goal against Spurs – it should give him the confidence to do so.

It’s an important period for him to impress, with Jota now on the sidelines.
