Peter Crouch issues verdict on Lucas Moura display in Tottenham win
Peter Crouch that Lucas Moura was huge for Tottenham Hotspur in their win over Crystal Palace on Boxing Day, and his performance makes you question why he does not contribute more goals and assists.
Lucas was outstanding as Spurs saw off Palace to continue their charge towards the top four. He got Tottenham’s second, sandwiched between strikes from Harry Kane and Son Heung-min, on their way to a 3-0 victory.

It was the Brazilian who provided both of the assists for his two teammates. Perhaps surprisingly, the 29-year-old doubled his goals tally in the Premier League this term in the win. Meanwhile, he contributed only his second and third assists in the top-flight.
He does appear to have found another gear since Antonio Conte was appointed. Plenty of fans were lauding his performance in the win over West Ham just before Christmas.
Crouch admitted that he is somewhat baffled by Lucas not scoring and setting up more – but only because of how good he was in the emphatic win over the Eagles.

“He played really well today. He’s the type of player you want to see do well because he brings energy, enthusiasm and today, he was involved in all three goals. Huge, huge part to play today,” .
“It’s about affecting games with him. We know he’s got talent, pace. But perhaps, his stats haven’t been top class along the lines of Son and Kane. But when he plays like this, you just think why aren’t they? He’s such a talented player, and a huge part of this team.”
Lucas Moura one of several Tottenham players currently flying under Antonio Conte
Conte’s appointment appears to have had a positive effect on several players. Harry Kane is back scoring. Eric Dier has looked transformed in recent weeks. And players such as Harry Winks, Dele Alli and Steven Bergwijn have potentially handed their spells in North London a lifeline.
Lucas is currently flying in that role behind Kane and Son.
Admittedly, Tottenham are going to face tougher tests than Palace. But they are gaining a lot of momentum and belief. And with that belief, it is going to be incredibly difficult for anyone to stop Spurs.
