Peter Crouch insists Liverpool will be team to beat next season
Peter Crouch has predicted that Liverpool will be the team to beat next season in the Premier League, after steamrolling to the top-flight title during the current 2019/20 campaign.
The Merseyside giants have already clinched the title and with four games remaining sit top on 92 points, while second-placed Manchester City are a huge 23 points behind them.
City defender John Stones recently explained that Pep Guardiola’s team still believe they are the best, despite falling well short in the league this season.
“Even though the Premier League has been won we are still fighting for trophies. We are quietly confident we are (still the best). We know our ability and the standard we have set for ourselves in the dressing room,”
But ex-Liverpool forward Crouch has hailed his former team for their title success and believes the Reds deserve to be the runaway leaders.
“I saw John Stones said City’s dressing room still believe they have been the best team this season and I can understand why he’s said it — the way they attack is just beautiful to watch,”
“But Stones is wrong. Liverpool are deservedly 23 points clear and I think that gap gives you an idea of the magnitude of their achievement.
“They will be the team to beat again next season, as they have got the world’s best goalkeeper, the world’s best defender and three sublime strikers.”

TBR’s View – Can Liverpool go again next season?
Liverpool have proven during the past two years that this current group are no flash in the pan, so they should be confident of kicking on again next season with some top-class players that look in their prime.
They finished as runners-up in the league with 97 points and won the Champions League last season, while this campaign they have finally clinched the title and could break the 100-point barrier.
Manager Jurgen Klopp is certainly not one to take his foot off the gas, which is why he will be expecting a backlash from Man City after they lost their league crown.
