Peter Crouch compares Liverpool star Thiago Alcantara to Xabi Alonso
Former Liverpool striker Peter Crouch has said in his weekly column that Thiago Alcantara reminds him of his former teammate Xabi Alonso.
The Spain international made his debut for the Reds last weekend, coming on as a second-half substitute in the 2-0 victory over Chelsea.

He looked effortless during his 45-minute showing and he already looks like becoming a remarkable signing for Jurgen Klopp at Liverpool.
Crouch was asked about the midfield for his weekly column and heaped praise on the 29-year-old performer.
“There is a footballer there who looks like he could play the game in his slippers.
“I watched that cameo at Chelsea last week and you could immediately tell that Thiago had blown people away in his first training session, as everybody wanted to give him the ball.
“There some similarities I could see with Thiago in Xabi Alonso. It was the way he gathered the ball, how crisply he passed it. Xabi was a wonderful footballer and he came to my mind when I watched Thiago at Stamford Bridge.
“There was so much to admire.”
Liverpool finally ended their long pursuit of Thiago by signing him in a deal worth just £20 million .
The midfielder signed a four-year contract with the Premier League champions and already that looks an absolute steal.
Thiago was instrumental in helping Liverpool see off Chelsea and looks like a player who could quickly become a fan favourite.

Alonso played 210 games in the red of Liverpool, helping them to Champions League glory in 2005 against AC Milan.
If Thiago can help Liverpool continue their trophy-laden few years then he too could be considered in the same breath as the ex-midfield maestro.
