Perez’s West Ham career is surely dead and buried after Everton shocker
West Ham United forward Lucas Perez has had a nightmare season.
The Spaniard pitched up at the London Stadium last summer for £4 million (), with many branding the move as a bargain deal.
For Perez had shown glimpses of his quality at Arsenal, and then on loan at former club Deportivo La Coruna.
There was genuine feeling that Perez could properly kickstart his career in English football at West Ham, but things have not turned out well for the 30-year-old.
He has essentially warmed the bench this season and is behind Marko Arnautovic and Javier Hernandez in the pecking order.
He was handed a rare start against Everton on Saturday, but was hooked at half-time as the team lost 2-0 ().

Perez being hauled off against the Toffees must have been a major blow for the player.
Perez has been starved of opportunities and when one finally came his way he failed to make it count.
The player was virtually anonymous for the Hammers and offered nothing in attack.
One has to imagine it’ll be hard for Perez to remain at the club beyond the summer.
Despite scoring five goals, he has constantly been ineffective and has actually made his £4 million transfer look expensive, when many had suggested he was a value for money signing.
Andy Carroll and Javier Hernandez both have specific qualities that they bring to the table, and there is no way Pellegrini should be getting rid of either of those players before Perez, whose Hammers career is surely dead and buried now.
