Pep Lijnders pays tribute to Liverpool duo Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Naby Keita
Liverpool assistant manager Pep Lijnders has sung the praises of Reds midfielders Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Naby Keita despite their injury problems so far this season.
Chamberlain is still recovering from the injury which kept him out for much of last season, while Keita has been limited to just eight Premier League minutes this season () by fitness issues too.
As per , he said: “Ox of course is a very sad story with the injury, he was very important for us just before. We want to give him time and we know it will come. If he keeps his aggression offensively and defensively, everything will come, but that needs time after an injury like that.
“Naby was unlucky with his injury this season. A first year at a club like Liverpool with a new style in the Premier League, we all know that takes time, but we can all see what a magnificent player he is and what he can do to our team. Especially in how to bring the ball into the final third and how to disorganise opposition.”

TBR’s View – Liverpool’s squad depth coming to the fore more and more
It has been a popular view for a number of years that Liverpool’s squad is not as strong as Manchester City’s but they are closing the gap.
City have elite, expensive talent in almost every position – but have been rocked hard by two central defensive injuries – while Liverpool have the likes of Keita and Chamberlain waiting in the wings to change games.
