Pellegrini provides exciting update on West Ham pair Cresswell and Reid
, Manuel Pellegrini has suggested that Aaron Cresswell has come through training this week without a problem, while he added that Winston Reid will make his long-awaited return for West Ham United’s under-23s next week.
Cresswell came off with six minutes remaining of the 2-1 defeat to Crystal Palace before the international break. And he would not be involved for the trip to Everton.

But his comeback is nothing compared to what Reid has been through. His last competitive appearance for the club came back in March 2018.
However, after more than 19 months on the sidelines, Pellegrini suggested that Reid could soon make his return to the first-team.

“Aaron Cresswell has worked the whole week without any problems,” he said, , when asked for an injury update. “Winston Reid continues to recover and probably he will play the next game for the U23s on Wednesday. Lukasz [Fabianski] and [Michail] Antonio are obviously still out.”
Cresswell has been excellent this season. West Ham would concede a late winner against Palace after the left-back had been taken off. They would also lose 2-0 at Everton.
Of course, his absence was not the sole reason for those results. And some fans may point out that he had not been at his best for some time before this season. Nevertheless, it is a big boost to have him back.
There will be plenty of intrigue to see how Reid gets on. He was previously a stalwart of West Ham’s defence, but there will be plenty of people doubting whether he can rediscover that form.
It looks as though it is going to be tough enough for Reid to get back to that level, let alone push ahead of Issa Diop or Angelo Ogbonna in the pecking order.
