Pellegrini can boast his new Dzeko by signing Mitrovic this summer

West Ham United manager Manuel Pellegrini should be looking at trying to sign Aleksandar Mitrovic if Fulham are relegated from the Premier League this season.

The Hammers look set for another summer of change following the conclusion of the 2018/19 season.

Marko Arnautovic has continually been linked with a move to China and appears perhaps the most like to depart.

Javier Hernandez has announced he will hold talks at the end of the season about his future.

Lucas Perez and Andy Carroll have also both been linked with moves away from the club in recent months.

It therefore seems highly likely the Irons will welcome a new striker in the summer, and that man should be Mitrovic if Fulham, who are in deep trouble in the league, go down.

Pellegrini’s new Dzeko?

Mitrovic would be a brilliant signing for West Ham.

He would be a fine replacement for Arnautovic, who has a very similar style to the Serbian.

Mitrovic has come on leaps and bounds since his struggles at Newcastle United, and is arguably one of the best strikers from a club outside the top six.

This term he has made 30 appearances for the Cottagers and scored 17 goals.

Pellegrini managed Dzeko at Manchester City where the pair won a league title together.

He was an important player under the Chilean, and perhaps Mitrovic could be his 2019 modern day equivalent.

The strikers are both very physical and fantastic in the air, and Mitrovic’s finishing has improved immensely this term.
