Paulinho exit should not impact Everton’s pursuit of Yerry Mina

Everton are one team being linked with a move for Colombia star Yerry Mina this summer. The Barcelona defender was sensational for his nation at the World Cup this summer. Everton, who need a centre-back, contacted the Spanish club last week over a potential deal, that the Merseyside club had offered £21.2 million for his services. that Barcelona might let him leave on loan.

Many fans have been wondering why Barcelona are contemplating selling the player considering his good form. Simply put, Barca need to lose a non-EU player to bring one in as they are at their maximum quota.

So the news today that Paulinho has left may alert Everton fans to Mina’s sudden unavailability.

The former Spurs star has returned to Guangzhou Evergrande in China on loan after just one season at the Nou Camp. A permanent deal is in the works, for what would be more than £36 million,

But that does not mean Mina is safe. , Barcelona have two non-EU players in their sights. Arthur is set to join from Gremio whilst Chelsea attacker Willian is also a target. To bring in the Blues star, Barca would need to move another non-EU player on. Mina seems a more likely candidate then, let’s say, Philippe Coutinho.

Everton still have a chance of getting their hands on Mina this summer. Considering their troubles at the back last term, it is a chance they have to take.
