Paul Robinson says Robin Olsen will be ‘fuming’ with two Aston Villa players after Man City loss
Aston Villa could not make it two wins from two against Man City in the same season on Wednesday night, as a Phil Foden-inspired side guided Pep Guardiola’s side to an impressive 4-1 win at The Etihad.
Villa came into the match hoping for a result after Tottenham dropped points against West Ham on Tuesday, and might have had hope having beaten the Premier League champions in the reverse fixture.
They belief might have grown when Jhon Duran cancelled out Rodri’s opener. But, Phil Foden came alive – scoring a hat-trick. The first, finding a gap in the wall from a free-kick that flew past stopper Robin Olsen.
Aston Villa duo to blame for Manchester City’s second goal
Swedish goalkeeper Olsen actually had a brilliant night, making a number of saves. Villa had chances, but Foden made it 3-1 with a flash of his left boot, off the post. His third, the best of the night, 20 yards out.

The England man slammed an effort into the top corner of Olsen’s net, and City won 4-1. Speaking while co-commentating on , Paul Robinson criticised Ezri Konsa and Nicolo Zaniolo in Villa’s wall.
Indeed, it is England man Konsa in the Villa wall. Even if Robinson makes a mistake during his analysis of the goal, wrongly naming Morgan Rogers – who got the assist for Jhon Duran’s equaliser in the first half.
“On second look you see Nicolo Zaniolo and Morgan Rogers turn inwards and leave a gap for the ball to go through. The goalkeeper got his wall right but the wall didn’t stand its ground. Olsen will be fuming.”
The race for fourth could swing in Tottenham’s favour…
The defeat sees Spurs sit just two points behind Villa and while fifth place could guarantee Champions League football, both sides will want fourth. Harry Redknapp thinks Tottenham will finish in fourth.
The defeat to City will be damning and Villa now have injuries. Spurs’ inconsistent form will play into Villa’s favour, but the 4-1 loss to a City side that Villa beat earlier in the season will come as a blow.
In terms of the title race, it is a big statement from City. A huge win against a very good side. Guardiola’s men look as though they are going to put a string of wins together, at just the right time. Exciting.
