Paul Robinson reckons Tottenham player that could ‘fit in any top-six side’ will leave

Paul Robinson has told Sky Sports’ Football Show (Thursday, 10.24AM) that he reckons Harry Winks will leave Tottenham Hotspur this summer, despite being brought in from the cold by Ryan Mason on Wednesday night.

Mason guided Tottenham to three points in his first win as Spurs interim manager since the sacking of Jose Mourinho. Without Harry Kane, Spurs came from behind to beat Southampton 2-1 – with a late penalty from Son.

Winks, 25, had been afforded just one Premier League appearance since January by Mourinho – appearing in just one of Tottenham’s last 13 league outings. But Mason gave him the best part of 20 minutes on Wednesday.

Despite his resurgence in Mason’s first game, ex-Tottenham goalkeeper Robinson reckons England international Winks will be sold by Spurs in the coming months – claiming he could play for any of England’s top six sides.

“The likes of Dele Alli and Harry Winks have come back into the picture. Winks is a player I rate really highly. I suspect that he is potentially going to move on in the summer. He’d fit in any top-six side,” Robinson said.

TBR’s view – Winks needs to leave Spurs to realise potential

Right now, Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg is the best midfielder Spurs have in front of the defence, and therefore a more attacking option alongside him is required. Tanguy Ndombele or Gio Lo Celso are the ideal options in there.

Where could the £50,000-a-week ace () star go? Realistically, he needs to join a side where he will get regular game time. While Robinson believes he can play for a top-six side, a mid-table team makes more sense.
