Paul Robinson rates Tottenham Hotspur’s window, comments on Joe Rodon

Paul Robinson has told Sky Sports News (Tuesday, 11:05am) that Tottenham Hotspur have had an “outstanding” transfer window, but that it would be a “complete” summerꦿ’s work if they can ෴sign Swansea City centre-back Joe Rodon.

Daniel Levy opened the cheque book this summer despite the financial restraints of the global health crisis. In came Joe Hart, Matt Doherty, Sergio Reguilon, Pierre-Emile Hꦕojbjerg, Gareth Bale and Carlos Vinicius – which has cost more than £60million.

Spurs did try to sign a centre-back in the January window and could still be in talks to do just that🌠, given Premier League and EFL clubs can continue to secure transfers until August 16. Spurs are in talks to sign Swansea’s Rodon.

The report claims Spurs value Rodon at just £7million while Swansea want £18million, but a compromise is expected. Ex-Spurs stopper Robinson rated Tottenham’s summer work at 4.5/5, and claimed the signing of💮 Rodon would “complete” the window.

“They’ve had an outstanding window, Jose has been an easy target for criticism but the squad he has amassed is excellen♑t,” Robinson said. “Gareth Bale is a statement of intent. Hojbjerg, Doherty is a great signing.

“The only criticism I have for Tottenham is they did not sign a centre-back but that might change with Joe Rodon from Swansea – which would complete the window. Without a centre-back, i’ll give them 4.5 [out of 5].”

TBR’s view – Rodon would be an excellent signing, though long-term

Bringing in Milan Skriniar is an expensive risk. At 25, he is still young and still lacks enormous experience – certainly he is yet to pl🍒ay in English football. At £50million, he would be overpriced – even if he is a top-class cent🍰re-back.

A compromise between £7million and £18million for Rodon is a much more sensible decision. Though some way below Skriniar👍 in terms of quality, he is a better investment given he has the potential to reach Skriniar’s ability over the next few seaཧsons.
