Paul Robinson gives Premier League advice to promoted Leeds
Ex-Leeds United goalkeeper Paul Robinson has given some advice to his former club following their return to the Premier League, after a 16-year exile from the top-flight.
Marcelo Bielsa’s team clinched automatic promotion on Friday due to second-placed West Brom losing against Huddersfield.
The Yorkshire club then wrapped up the Championship title on Saturday when third-placed Brentford were beaten at Stoke City and it means the Whites travel to Derby County on Sunday as the division champions.
Leeds can now enjoy their final two games of the season against Derby and Charlton Athletic knowing they can’t be caught at the top, but it would be no surprise if manager Bielsa still demands the best from his group of players.
There will be Premier League football back at Elland Road next season and Robinson is already looking ahead to how Leeds should prepare.
He has advised them to avoid making the same mistakes as Norwich City, who were unable to make significant improvements to their squad following promotion last season and their relegation from the Premier League has now been confirmed.
“Consolidation is the right word now they have to stay in the Premier League. They have to sign very sensibly they have to gear for the Premier League. The Championship team that gets you promoted can’t always keep you in the Premier League look at Norwich this year,”

TBR’s View:
Leeds deserve the next couple of weeks to celebrate their massive achievement of getting out of the Championship, something the club have been trying to achieve for years.
Bielsa’s squad can look back on what has been a brilliant campaign where overall they have been the most consistent in the division, but the work behind the scenes going into next year are likely to be underway already.
They clearly will need to make some additions to compete next season and despite their being some serious talent in the squad, it’s crying out for a few faces with real Premier League experience.
