Paul Robinson claims Illan Meslier will be disappointed despite Leeds’ 5-2 win
Leeds United picked up an impressive 5-2 victory over Cardiff City in the FA Cup last night, but Paul Robinson believes Illan Meslier would’ve been disappointed at full-time.
In the fixture at the Cardiff City Stadium, the Whites went 2-0 down in the first half but came from behind to draw the game. Jesse Marschs’s side were the favourites to win the replay at Elland Road and they did that in style.
Meslier, however, could not hold on to a clean sheet.

Leeds absolutely battered Cardiff last night.
A brace each from Wilfried Gnonto and Patrick Bamford and a 34th-minute strike from Rodrigo put the Whites 5-0 up inside 76 minutes, and that scoreline looked good.
However, Cardiff managed to score twice in the final nine minutes of the game thanks to Callum Robinson. That, obviously, didn’t affect the result, but Meslier missed out on an easy clean sheet.
Robinson believes the Leeds United goalkeeper would’ve been extremely disappointed with that even though his side picked up an emphatic victory in front of their home fans.
He told : “Illan Meslier’s night will be ruined by not keeping a clean sheet.
“Goalkeepers are a different breed. He’ll be happy with the performance and the way that his team has performed going forward and I’m sure he saw a real opportunity to add to his few clean sheets.
“He has had nothing to do all night and there was nothing he could do with that goal (the first one). He will go home very disappointed because clean sheets do matter to you.”

Clean sheets have been very hard to come by for Meslier and Leeds.
The Frenchman has played 20 times in all competitions for the Whites and has conceded 36 goals. He has kept just three clean sheets in the process – against Chelsea, Aston Villa and Newcastle.
He could easily have increased that number by one last night, but two goals in the final nine minutes of the game cost him that clean sheet – albeit he couldn’t have done much with either strike.
Robinson’s right, Meslier would’ve been disappointed, but the most important thing is that Leeds won the game.
