Paul Mitchell could now launch move for £39m ‘warrior’ Chelsea player if Marc Guehi to Newcastle falls through
Newcastle United have left it late to get their priority centre-back signing which could prove fatal as Paul Mitchell weighs up the club’s options.
The Magpies had to deal with interest in Anthony Gordon early in the transfer window but nothing materialised as Eddie Howe decided against letting him leave.
Interestingly, Newcastle wanted to sign Jarell Quansah from Liverpool as part of the deal but the Reds didn’t budge and things broke down.
Now, as we find ourselves on transfer deadline day, the Magpies are still yet to sign a centre-back and risk ending the window without one.
Indeed, Marc Guehi’s supposed move to Newcastle has hit a road block as Steve Parish has now come back and said he wants more money for the centre-back.
So, with Guehi looking unlikely it appears as if Paul Mitchell is weighing up potential other options…
Newcastle could make deadline day move for Axel Disasi
It was reported just under a week ago that Newcastle are considering making a late move to sign Axel Disasi.
And, his name has surfaced again as Alex Crook writing for states if Newcastle cannot get Guehi then Mitchell could make a move for Axel Disasi or RB Leipzig’s Mohamed Simakan.
A move for Mohamed Simakan seems unlikely as he looks set to join Al Nassr as that’s reached the ‘here we go’ stage from Fabrizio Romano.
But, Disasi, who has been described as a ‘warrior’, could be a goer if Newcastle deem him to be a player who can improve their current squad.

Can Newcastle afford not to sign a centre-back?
Eddie Howe currently has Fabian Schar and Sven Botman as his preferred centre-back partnership.
Outside of them two he has the likes of Jamaal Lascelles, Lloyd Kelly and Dan Burn who can also play there.
However, Lascelles has suffered with a long-term injury and is lacking match sharpness, so he can’t really be trusted at this stage by the Newcastle boss.
And, as we’ve seen with Fabian Schar already this season, players can get suspended and be out for three games and there is always the possibility of players picking up injuries.
