Paul Merson shares what Liverpool have to better under Arne Slot
Arne Slot was this summer appointed as Jurgen Klopp’s successor at Liverpool, with the Dutch coach having a mixed start to life at Anfield.
Three Premier League wins and a good victory in the UEFA Champions League have been somewhat overshadowed by Liverpool’s 1-0 loss against Nottingham Forest on Saturday, the first time the Reds have lost at home to the Garibaldi in 55 years.
Although it is early days for Slot, there could soon be pressure on the Dutch coach if results in the Premier League do not improve in the coming weeks, such is the standards the Liverpool manager is being held up to.
And Paul Merson has now shared what the former Feyenoord manager has to do if he’s to improve things at Liverpool.

Liverpool told to move the ball quicker under Slot
Speaking on , the pundit noted how Liverpool need to improve their speed and precision on the ball if they’re to improve under Slot, with the Dutch coach seemingly in need of adapting his tactics for the Premier League.
With four wins from five games in all competitions, Slot’s move to England hasn’t been as bad as some might suggest it has been, with the Dutch coach leaving his mark on Liverpool since the departure of Klopp last season.
Yet for Merson, Liverpool need to improve their speed on the ball, with the former Arsenal star saying when asked what the Reds can do to get better: “I just think they have got to move the ball quicker.
“I know people will say it’s different now with the manager, it’s slower, but this is different to Dutch football. It’s not as open, teams are going to come back, they are going to sit back behind the ball, and do a job.”

Slot doesn’t need to do anything drastic just yet
Liverpool’s loss to Forest on Saturday was a shock to the system given how good the Reds have been at Anfield in the last decade under Klopp, with the Merseyside stadium one of the hardest grounds to visit in all of football.
Yet even after a loss so early into the season, Slot does not need to do anything drastic just yet with his tactics as Liverpool manager, with the Reds in a good position in both the Premier League and Champions League.
Some changes could be on the agenda soon if things don’t pick up, yet Liverpool have shown this season that they can perform well against top clubs, with Saturday’s loss a potential enigma.
