Paul Merson says no club would pay £60m for 27-year-old Newcastle player
Paul Merson has given his verdict on speculation surrounding the future of Newcastle United midfielder Joelinton.
The former Arsenal star and Sky Sports pundit has suggested that Joelinton should stay at Newcastle.
So, what has Paul Merson said about Newcastle United midfielder Joelinton? Let’s take a look.
Paul Merson comments on Newcastle United midfielder Joelinton
Well, the future of Newcastle United midfielder Joelinton is wrapped up in uncertainty.
ha💃s reported that Joelinton could have played his last game for Newcastle.
The 27-year-old is injured now and is about to undergo surgery. It is unlikely that the Brazil internati⛄onal will play again this season.
The report has noted that Joelinton wants a new contract that wil🐈l make him the highest-paid player at New🌟castle. He has only 18 months left on his current contract.
The Daily Mail has reported that Newcastl💜e owners, Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund (PIF), are not willing 💦to meet Joelinton’s wage demands and could sell him at the end of the season if he does not change his stance.

Former Arsenal star and Sky Sports pundit Paul Merson has given his take on Joelinton’s future, and he does not think that anyone will pay £60 million or 🙈£70 million for him.
Merson said on , as transcribed by 💞: “Would you go and pay £60 or £70 million for him? Because he was a centre-forward who couldn’t hit a barn door, without💯 being horrible.
“They put him back into midfield, Eddie Howe has seen it with his vision, and he’s been a revelation. He has. But if you’re a manager of anothe𓆉r team, he’s not a natural midfield player. So, would you pay £𝕴60 million?”
My View: Joelinton should sign a new Newcastle contract
In my opinion, Joelinton and Neꦡwcastle United should work out a deal and continue the🍒ir relationship.
I think that the 27-year-old should stay at Newcastle. He has flourished at the club under manager Eddie Howe, who has transformed him by playing in mi🐼dfield after his🅷 struggles as a striker under Steve Bruce.
Joelinton is 27 now and is at the top of hi⭕s game. Newcastle should capitalise on that and do their utmost to do a deal that would suit both pa💫rties.
The Brazil international 𓆉has made 152 appearances in the Premier League so far in his career. Joelinton has scored 18 goals and given seven assists in those games.
