Paul Merson says Arsenal have an ‘amazing’ player who doesn’t get the credit he deserves

With three points and bragging rights at stake, Tottenham Hotspur and Arsenal prepare to do battle in what is expected to be one of the most exciting games of the new Premier League season.

Arsenal are coming on the back of two wins and a draw from their first three games, with a handful of their players already making big impacts this season.

Kai Havertz has already scored twice and notched up an assist, emerging as Arsenal’s most productive attacker.

Bukayo Saka has also been in fine form and is widely regarded as the leader of the Arsenal attack.

And despite his recent form and consistency over the years, Paul Merson feels the England international is still a bit underrated among fans and pundits.

The Arsenal legend believes people have begun to take Saka for granted and aren’t giving him the credit he deserves for his consistent displays.

“He is amazing. He puts up figures. I don’t think he gets the credit he deserves if I am being honest,” Merson said on .

“He just does his job consistently every week. It’s like we take it for granted, and that’s why I don’t think he gets the credit.

“We expect him to do what he does week in and week out.”

With Martin Odegaard out injured, Saka could captain Arsenal against Tottenham, which is a huge honour for a player who graduated from the academy.

Saka set to be Arsenal’s leading man against Tottenham

The 23-year-old has three goals and two assists in nine Premier League appearances against Tottenham over the years and will look to add to that tally.

Due to Arsenal’s ongoing crisis in midfield, Havertz could drop into midfield, due to which there could be a few changes to the Gunners’ front three.

Regardless of who plays between Gabriel Martinelli, Gabriel Jesus, Leandro Trossard and Raheem Sterling, Saka is undoubtedly Arsenal’s main man in attack and the onus will be on him to provide a magical moment in the North London derby.
