‘Unbelievable’: Paul Merson couldn’t believe what Leeds player did in the 27th minute v Bournemouth today
Leeds United played out an absolutely sensational 4-3 win over Bournemouth today as Crycensio Summerville once again scored a later winner.
Following on from their superb win at Anfield, Leeds maintained their good run with a stunning comeback win over the Cherries. After being 3-1 down, the Whites fought back as goals from Greenwood, Cooper and finally, Summerville, saw Elland Road erupt.

But things might have been different had it not been for Leeds goalkeeper Illan Meslier. In the 27th minute and with Bournemouth smelling blood, Meslier produced a fine save to deny Kieffer Moore. And commentating on the moment for Sky Sports, felt it was a huge moment.
“The keeper makes an unbelievable stop otherwise it’s 3-1 and probably game over. It could be any score this game!,” Merson said after Meslier’s 27th minute save from Kieffer Moore.
Of course, The Cherries went on to go 3-1 up anyway. But that wasn’t until the second half, meaning Leeds at least went into the half-time break only one down.
Had Meslier not made the save from Moore, then the floodgates might have truly opened up. And had it been four goals down for Leeds, then that fightback might never have happened.
TBR’s View: Meslier remains key despite conceding three
Well, what a day in West Yorkshire. Leeds looked down and out but once again, showed they have a fighting spirit under Jesse Marsch that won’t die.
Leeds pressed and pushed and rather than be content with not seeing the game become embarrassing for them, they simply took the shackles off and went for it. And boy did it pay off.
Meslier’s save was crucial here. Bournemouth did get the third eventually. But the Frenchman stopped the rot in the opening 45, and he can look back on his performance admirably.
