Paul Merson has now predicted the result of West Ham vs Everton on Saturday
West Ham and Everton face off this weekend in a game that is arguably a must win for both sides.
Julen Lopetegui’s job is under serious pressure right now, while Everton are staring the relegation zone in the face at the moment.
Sean Dyche’s side have had a slow start to the season, and another defeat here would leave the Everton gaffer under plenty of pressure.
This is a very difficult game to call as both teams have been rather poor as of late.
However, games like these can turn the tide of a team’s season if they turn up, and writing in his column on , Paul Merson has shared his verdict on how this match will go.

Paul Merson predicts West Ham vs Everton
Merson shared his verdict on how this game will go.
The pundit says he has serious doubts about West Ham as a team, but he does think they will win here.
“I always go back to this with West Ham, be careful what you wish for. David Moyes is a good manager and they won a European trophy under him. Don’t forget that this was a West Ham that did nothing for many years. Sometimes people can get caught up in the total football philosophy and overlook the fact that it’s always about winning games,” Merson said.
“I still doubt Lopetegui knows his best XI. However, I expect West Ham to win here. Everton could now be dragged back into the relegation battle.”
Will Lopetegui save his job?
Merson reckons that West Ham will win this weekend, but even if the Hammers do get a victory here, Lopetegui’s job may not be safe.
Indeed, West Ham have some very tough fixtures coming off, that may yet leave Lopetegui in more hot water in the coming weeks.
Of course, at this point, Lopetegui and West Ham need to just take things one game at a time as they try to move up the Premier League table, but it’s hard not to think about the manager’s job security after a poor start to the season.
West Ham are already analysing potential Lopetegui replacements, and they may well pull the trigger on the manager if they fail to beat Everton on Saturday.
This is a huge game for both teams, and, perhaps more poignantly, this is a massive game for both managers as they look to stay in their current roles.
