Paul Merson believes West Ham players are already on the beach
Sky Sports pundit believes that West Ham are already on the beach with six games remaining in their season, but did single out goalkeeper Lukasz Fabianski for praise.
The Hammers currently sit 11th in the Premier League table, with no danger of going down but also plenty of work to do if they want to win the race for seventh.
Manuel Pellegrini’s side were beaten 2-0 by Everton in their last game and the scoreline faltered them, which is why the trip to Chelsea on Monday night looks a daunting one.
Merson hailed Fabianski for his display in the Everton defeat, as he made several top saves and he’s been one of the outstanding players at the London Stadium this campaign.
But the pundit suggests that some of his teammates already have their eyes on the summer and have very little to play for in the remaining games.
“West Ham are on the beach a bit as they are safe and going nowhere. They got found out against Everton and if it wasn’t for Fabianski it could have been any score,”

TBR’s View:
Pellegrini needs a response from West Ham in the final six fixtures, as it would be a nightmare to end the season on a low point and have no momentum going into the next year.
They need to try finish as high up the table as they can and look to continue their progress during Pellegrini’s second season.
Fabianski deserves all the credit for his displays this season and he’s turned out to be a wonderful addition for the club.
But there are others that have been consistent such as Declan Rice and it’s up to their key players to galvanise the group ahead of a London derby with Chelsea.
