Paul Dickov says Manchester City have already got a future No. 9 in mind

Manchester City icon Paul Dickov has waxed lyrical about Citizens winger Ferran Torres, saying “the world is at his feet”.

In addition, the BBC Sport pundit has also claimed that City’s coaches have him earmarked as a future No. 9 at the Etihad Stadium.

Torres joined City last summer in a reported £21million move from Valencia, and the 21-year-old has hit the ground running at the club.

He has already clocked up 32 appearances for City, registering 10 goals and three assists – all the more impressive considering he’s only started 21 games.

Torres made his 12th Premier League start of the season in Saturday’s early kickoff away at Crystal Palace.

A much-changed City side looked a little disjointed in the first half but, on 56 minutes, Sergio Aguero broke the deadlock with an emphatic half-volley into the roof of the net.

Then Torres, who was one of City’s most threatening players and creative outlets, doubled the visitors’ lead two minutes later with a well-taken finish from the edge of the box.

“We talked before the game about Man City being relentless,” Dickov said on BBC Radio 5 Live ().

“They didn’t let Crystal Palace off the hook straight from the kickoff. And what a finish that is from Ferran Torres.

“Behind the scenes, they’re really pleased by how he is doing. He wants to learn, he’s always asking question and today he’s been the best player on the pitch.

“They’ve got him earmarked as a future number 9 at this club. The world is at his feet.”
