Patrick Roberts and Mikael Lustig react as Celtic sell star to Arsenal
Kieran Tierney completed a move from Celtic to Arsenal for a fee of £25million on deadline day to the despair of Hoops fans – but Mikael Lustig and Patrick Roberts have applauded Tierney, posting good luck messages.
Tierney, 22, has finally ended multiple windows of speculation surrounding his future by joining the north London outfit for a big eight-figure fee from Celtic. He has signed a five-year deal with the Gunners.
The Scotland international clocked up an enormous 170 appearances in all competitions with Celtic during his short career, helping Celtic win five league titles, three Scottish Cups and three League Cups.
Tierney uploaded two posts on Instagram, the first sending an enormously heartfelt messages to Celtic and the club’s fans – before posting one to Arsenal fans following his move. Norwich star Roberts, and Gent ace Lustig replied.
Tierney was one of two signings made by Arsenal on deadline day, with the Gunners finally bringing in a centre-back in the form of David Luiz from Chelsea in what was a somewhat surprising move. It is believed he has cost £8million.
The Gunners take on Newcastle this weekend at St. James’ Park, and both Tierney and Luiz could make their debuts for the north London side. Celtic, meanwhile, have brought in Boli Bolingoli as Tierney’s replacement.
