Patrick Roberts and Liverpool star deliver one-word Instagram messages to Celtic star Scott Brown
Scott Brown has posted a heartfelt message on Instagram to Celtic supporters having played his last game for the Hoops on the weekend, a 0-0 draw with Hibernian – and both Andy Robertson and Patrick Roberts have responded.
Brown, who turns 36 in June, ends a 14-year spell at Celtic which has seen him clock up an enormous 611 games in all competitions – winning 22 domestic trophies including 10 Scottish Premiership titles, including nine in a row.
The 55-time Scotland international is set to remain in Scotland and turn out for Aberdeen, having agreed to sign a two-year deal at Pittodrie where he will act as a player coach alongside friend and new manager Stephen Glass.
Posting on Instagram, the Celtic skipper sent a touching tribute to the club itself and the supporters of Celtic. He also opened the door to a potential, future return at the end of his message, saying: “Hopefully one day we’ll meet again.”
It is a big loss for Celtic, who are expected to undergo a mass summer revamp. Brown is one of a number of players expected to leave – along with Odsonne Edouard, Olivier Ntcham, Ryan Christie, Kris Ajer and the on-loan players.
Plenty responded to Brown’s message, including Scotland captain and Liverpool superstar Robertson as well as winger Roberts – who remains on the books at Manchester City, last turning out for Derby County.
