Patrice Evra reacts to Sadio Mane’s display in Liverpool win

Patrice Evra that despite not scoring, Sadio Mane produced a superb performance as Liverpool beat Leicester City 3-0 on Sunday.

The Reds moved back level on points with Tottenham at the top of the Premier League with an emphatic win. Heading into the game, much of the talk had been centred on the players Jurgen Klopp would be unable to call upon.

But those who were involved stepped up in some style. Mane caused all sorts of problems for Leicester’s defence and did come close to getting onto the scoresheet himself.

And following the game, Evra insisted that the Senegal star – who earns £100,000-a-week, – deserves the plaudits coming his way for his display against the Foxes.

“Like I said, no Mane, no party,” . “I think he’s one of the most important players for Liverpool. Of course, we talk a lot about Virgil. But the front three, him, Salah, Firmino; he’s the one who can press the ball.

“He’s the one when he’s got the ball, he gets to the defender. He can destroy any player one vs one. He may not have scored today but he was so effective for Liverpool.”

It was a real statement from Liverpool to secure such an emphatic victory. Leicester, of course, would have gone back to the top of the table with a win.

And it appeared that Brendan Rodgers’s men would have probably not had a better chance to win at Anfield.

The Reds were missing the likes of Virgil van Dijk, Trent Alexander-Arnold, Jordan Henderson, Joe Gomez and Mohamed Salah.

Losing five players of such importance would derail most sides. But Liverpool went on to secure a huge win against a side who could surely be around the top spots come the end of the campaign.
