‘Pathetic’, ‘Smart decision’ – These Arsenal fans react to reports of abandoning Tierney chase
According to the , having already had three bids rejected by Celtic this summer, Arsenal have opted to abandon their pursuit of Kieran Tierney.
The 22-year-old left-back has been a key target for the Gunners in this transfer window. However, despite the player being interested in making a switch to the Emirates Stadium, the north London club have not been able to strike a deal with the Scottish champions.
Unai Emery is right to be on the hunt for a new left-back. At 33-years-old, Nacho Monreal is past his best and can no longer be relied upon week in, week out. Meanwhile, Sead Kolasinac has plenty of deficiencies in his game and is vulnerable defensively.
Tierney would have been a superb signing to address this issue. The 12-cap Scotland international is defensively solid and capable of being very effective in attack. He has huge potential and could have become a stalwart of the Arsenal defence for years to come.
Despite the big positives associated with securing Tierney’s services, Arsenal’s budget is severely stretched this summer. Therefore, it looks as though the Gunners have decided to give up this chase.

Right decision. Same with Zaha. Can’t be held to ransom for these players. Surely it must be better to invest in a couple of players with promise who don’t have the British tax
