Paris Saint-Germain hoping to sign Aston Villa attacker in audacious swap deal

TBR Football exclusively understands that Paris Saint-Germain have lodged an interest in signing Aston Villa striker Jhon Duran and would like to take the Colombian to the Parc Des Princes.

In 26 appearances for Aston Villa this season, Duran has now netted 12 goals, a striker who was even beginning to keep Ollie Watkins on the bench prior to his red card against Newcastle United.

As a result of his form, Duran signed a new contract with Villa in October, one that stretches until 2030, but even that has not stopped speculation about his future.

PSG willing to swap Randal Kolo Muani for Villa striker Jhon Duran

In addition to PSG’s interest in Duran, TBR Football Chief Correspondent Graeme Bailey understands that Villa are one of a host of clubs interested in Randal Kolo Muani.

In talks, the French Champions have now made it clear to Villa that they would contemplate a possible swap deal this month.

On his part, Kolo Muani is yet to make a decision on his future, but PSG are intent on pursuing Duran as they believe that the 21-year-old is a player of ‘huge potential’.

In addition to PSG, German giants Bayern Munich are also showing an interest in signing Duran.

However, sources close to the player have told TBR that Duran’s priority in the short-term is simply being first-choice.

Duran is at a point in his career when he wants to be starting – which is one of the reasons why he would still contemplate leaving Villa, but he would not do so to sit on the bench elsewhere.

West Ham also remain huge fans of Duran and the player himself wanted the move to the London Stadium last summer, but a deal could not be agreed.

Unai Emery explains how Jhon Duran is improving

Speaking after Duran’s goal against Manchester City last month, Unai Emery offered an interesting insight into how the striker is beginning to adapt and improve his game since joining for in 2023.

Speaking after the 2-1 win, Emery said: “He arrived two years ago and he is in a process. Two years ago we lost here 4-2 to Arsenal and were demanding for the striker to be close to the box and Jorginho scored.

“The minute 60 or 70 today, they (City) had the ball in the box and Duran was there taking the ball and starting our transition.

“This is the example. It is good. Two years ago we asked him to do it, now he is doing it. He is scoring too. I think he has big potential.

“I think he is understanding better, his commitment is better than the last two years.

“He was improving but not getting to the level we wanted, now he is there. With Ollie we have to use both, but it is very good news for me, the club and the team. They are performing.”
