‘Paperworks to be signed tonight’: Romano claims Arsenal ace is exit-bound

Arsenal midfielder Ainsley Maitland-Niles is on the verge of leaving the Emirates on loan.

This is according to Fabrizio Romano, who claims the Gunners ace will link up with Roma.

The Arsenal academy graduate has been linked with an Emirates exit for some weeks now.

Maitland-Niles spent the second half of last season on loan at West Brom and was seemingly close to another departure in the summer.

However, the 24-year-old reportedly had a loan switch to Everton blocked on transfer deadline day in summer.

He subsequently  on his Instagram: “All I wanna do is go where I’m wanted and where I’m gonna play.”

Arteta held clear-the-air talks with Maitland-Niles, and he stayed put at Arsenal.

However, he’s got just 11 appearances to his name this season, with a mere two Premier League starts.

Arsenal and Roma have reportedly been in talks over a potential loan switch with option to buy.

However, Romano now claims the deal will now be a straight loan.

Nonetheless, the deal appears imminent now, with just a few formalities ahead of a move.

Maitland-Niles is a talented player who wants senior game time and isn’t getting much of it at present.

Peter Crouch has previously him “tremendous” and “fantastic”, while Martin Keown has him a “Rolls Royce”.

It looks as though he’ll soon get the chance to impress at a top club and fingers crossed he does really well.
