Tottenham have failed in their offer to appoint Julen Lopetegui – and some Spurs fans are majorly downbeat about the news.
Sevilla president Jose Castro has told Cadena SAR – as per the – that Spurs have made an offer for Lopetegui.
But, the “dizzying” offer has been turned down.
Tottenham’s managerial search has been a mad one since Jose Mourinho was sacked, but time is running out to bring in someone new before the start of the 2021/22 season.
Ryan Mason’s brief interim spell ended in the summer, so right now it’s unclear on who will take pre-season.
A public rejection for Spurs in their attempt to prize Lopetegui away from Sevilla is crushing because of so much managerial speculation.
“Julen rang me and told me. He said he’d received offers he’d not listened to in addition to a dizzying one from Tottenham,” Sevilla president Castro .
“But he said he doesn’t forget things and that he is very motivated here. We believed and believe in him, giving him a two-year contract extension.
“I’m sure he will bring much more to the club. You see his ability and leadership every day. Some coaches are more driven by economic factors but Julen is very clear that he is happy here and he even said it would be very difficult to find a better place to work than here.”

The 54-year-old Spaniard definitely has an impressive CV due to his work at his current club.
He’s recorded back-to-back fourth-placed finishes in La Liga with Sevilla. In addition, he’s also won the Europa League crown with them.
Spurs have serious financial power and ambition to mix it with the best. However, that’s not enough to get ex-Spain manager Lopetegui away from his attractive Sevilla side.
In conclusion, it leaves the north London club back at square one. Therefore, the mood in the fanbase is at an extreme low right now.
