Paddy McNair should snub English interest to start fresh challenge at Celtic

Paddy McNair has a big decision ahead of him. McNair will have options on the table as he weighs up whether to stay at Middlesbrough or move away.

, Celtic are one of the teams interested in McNair. The Bhoys want McNair after their move for Motherwell’s David Turnbull fell through.

Celtic are ready to bid £5m for the ex-Manchester United and Sunderland player. But the Scottish Premiership champions are not alone in this race.

, three English teams want McNair. Premier League new boys Sheffield United will battle Championship duo Blackburn Rovers and Derby County for McNair.

But Celtic are another option as Middlesbrough prepare to sell. If all of these clubs match the Northern Ireland international’s valuation, then he has an interesting choice to make.

Either McNair stays at Middlesbrough, moves to another Championship club, moves to the English top-flight or tries a completely different challenge with Celtic.

And the latter should appeal to McNair. The 24-year-old would be competing for the league title at Celtic and the Scottish side can also offer him European football.

After playing just 16 times in the league for Middlesbrough, it could be time to move on. But he would also find game time hard to come by at Sheffield United in the top-flight.

Blackburn or Derby would be a sideways move. And this means that Celtic is surely the most attractive destination for McNair this summer.
