Pablo Fornals and Manuel Lanzini send messages to West Ham star after stunning Euro 2020 outing

Andriy Yarmolenko took his tally to two goals at Euro 2020 on Thursday evening for Ukraine against North Macedonia – as his country won 2-1. Both Pablo Fornals and Manuel Lanzini sent messages to Yarmolenko on Instagram, praising their West Ham teammate for his Euro 2020 display.

Yarmolenko, 31, took his tally to 42 goals in what was his 96th cap for Ukraine. He moves to just six goals off his manager Andriy Shevchenko’s all-time record. It comes after creeping in at the back post from a corner and tapping home the winner. Roman Yaremchuk made it two.

Leeds star Gjanni Alioski got one back after scoring the rebound when his penalty was saved. after netting his second goal of the tournament and winning the man-of-the-match award. His message to fans read: “Victory is very important, celebrate together.”

What have Lanzini and Fornals sent to West Ham teammate Yarmolenko – after Euro 2020 strike?

At club level, Yarmolenko is probably not enjoying his time as much as he might have thought. He played just 22 times throughout the 2020-21 campaign, scoring just three goals. He has entered the last 12 months of his contract – where he currently earns a huge £115,000 a week ().

But his form at national level might just tempt David Moyes into giving him more of a chance. Especially with Europa League football next season, he might be key. Both Lanzini and Fornals reacted to his Instagram, with Lanzini claiming Yarmolenko is the “best player in the world”.
