‘Outstanding’, ‘terrific’: Alan Shearer hails £120k-a-week Everton man and 29-year-old teammate
Everton duo Yerry Mina and James Rodriguez have been named in Alan Shearer’s Premier League Team of the Week following their superb display for Carlo Ancelotti’s side at the weekend.
The Toffees returned to the top of the table with a fourth victory from four league games, running out 4-2 winners over Brighton at Goodison Park.
Dominic Calvert-Lewin continued his incredible scoring run with his sixth Premier League goal of the season and ninth in all competitions, a towering header in the 16th minute.

A Jordan Pickford error led to Neal Maupay firing home on 41 minutes, but Mina nodded Everton back in front in first-half injury time.
Goal number three saw Alex Iwobi, who had come on as a first-half substitute after Richarlison picked up a knock, deliver a cross at the back post for Rodriguez to clinically put away.
Iwobi then provided a sublime defence-splitting pass for Abdoulaye Doucoure to whip towards Rodriguez, who made no mistake with a cool sidefooted finish.
“Made several outstanding blocks as Everton continued their perfect start to the season,” Shearer wrote of Mina on the Premier League .
Of Rodriguez, the Newcastle legend wrote: “Two goals, an assist and has formed a terrific combination with Dominic Calvert-Lewin. He’s loving the Premier League.”
TBR View:
Mina struggled somewhat last season – – but the £ ace is now just one of several Everton players who have kicked up a gear this season and looking revitalised under Ancelotti.
Rodriguez, meanwhile, had endured several tough years and his stock had fallen somewhat, but Ancelotti’s trust in the 29-year-old, bringing him to Goodison, has proven a superb decision, one of many culminating in a superb run of results and top spot in the league come the international break.
