‘Outstanding talent’: Klopp pinpoints Real Madrid pair Liverpool will need to keep quiet

Jurgen Klopp has pinpointed Vinicius Junior and Toni Kroos as two of Real Madrid’s biggest threats.

The former scored a double in last week’s 3-1 win for the home side in Madrid, while the latter provided a midfield masterclass and ran the show.

Mo Salah’s away goal means Liverpool remain in the tie, but Zinedine Zidane’s side are overwhelming favourites to progress to the Champions League’s last four.

Liverpool boss Klopp knows his side can’t afford to let Vinicius and Kroos enjoy a similar night at Anfield on Wednesday night.

As quoted by Spanish outlet , Klopp said: “I was impressed (by Vinicius) not surprised.

“He’s obviously an outstanding talent. Everybody knew it before Real Madrid signed him, but he became obviously better.

“One goal (of his, the second) I think we could have defended, the other (his first) was just a great long ball, a great first touch and finish.

“We tried to avoid the passes in his direction, which is a big task actually, but impressed yes, surprised no.”

On Kroos, he said: “He’s been one of the biggest talents in German football for a long, long, long time. He’s been a great player since he was really young.

“He played incredible stuff for Bayern  and then made a brave move to Real Madrid, and there he has become one of the most successful club footballers in the world and a World Cup winner.

“Obviously it’s been quite a successful career so far. There’s still a lot to come from him as well.

“He’s a nice person, we don’t know each other really well but I appreciate him obviously and admire him because he’s just a wonderful football player.

“He’s really difficult to defend because he can change the game from deep areas. It’s a nice package, to be honest.”

One positive for Liverpool is the injury crisis that has engulfed their opponents.

Captain Sergio Ramos is among those who will miss out, and he’s joined on the absentee list by Dani Carvajal, Rafael Varane and Lucas Vazquez.

Liverpool prepared for Real’s visit with a 2-1 win over Aston Villa at Anfield on Saturday.
