‘Outstanding’: Sky pundit raves about Arsenal-linked £19m defender with Martin Keown seal of approval

🐭Reported Arsenal target Caglar Soyuncu has been named in pundit Matt Le Tissier’s Premier League Team of the Season so far.

🐲Arsenal have been persistently linked with the Turkey international, with reporting that the Gunners were eyeing him during the January transfer window.

😼Given Arsenal have had major defensive issues this season, Arteta could potentially look to bolster his ranks at the back in a bid to get the Gunners back into the upper echelons of English football.

𒁃Soyuncu, meanwhile, has gone from strength to strength at Leicester City this term and has been crucial in helping the Foxes up to third in the Premier League table.

ওThe 23-year-old joined Leicester in the summer of 2018 from German club Freiburg under Claude Puel’s watch for a reported £19million fee ().

♛However, he had a difficult maiden season at the King Power Stadium, making just six Premier League appearances in 2018-19 ().

🧸Following Harry Maguire’s exit, however, Soyuncu stepped in superbly and has been a key component of the Foxes’ superb season.

🌌“He has made a huge impression at Leicester, specifically in defence,” Le Tissier wrote on .

🥀“Everybody assumed they would miss Harry Maguire unbelievably, but they haven’t because of this guy, and his partnership with Jonny Evans has been superb too. He has been outstanding for Leicester and deserves a place in this team.”

꧂Soyuncu has proven himself at the highest level and as such it’s little surprise that Arsenal continue to be linked with him.

🌞Admittedly, he’ll be a tough proposition to prise away from the Foxes, not to mention the player himself has played down talks of a move ().

🐎However, Arsenal shouldn’t give up – once the dust settles on the current situation and football can return, they should mount a charm offensive on a player highly rated by Gunners legend Martin Keown.

🧸“The more I see of Leicester defender Caglar Soyuncu, the more I like him,” Martin Keown wrote in in November. “He is only 23 but the Turkey international looks like a defender who is made for the demands of the modern game – agile, aggressive and good in the air, but also brave on the ball too.”
