‘Outstanding’… Ange Postecoglou has been amazed by the role £10m man is now playing
Tottenham Hotspur manager Ange Postecoglou is now preparing his side for a Friday trip to Nottingham Forest as the festive period continues.
And ahead of the game, Postecoglou has been discussing the form and success of some of his Tottenham players.

Moreover, when discussing the situation in defence, Postecoglou was almost running out for superlatives for Ben Davies.
The manager was so impressed with how Davies has adapted to playing at centre-back, a role he’s still growing into.
And although Postecoglou was pleased with his progress, he was insistent that one signing was definitely needed.
Speaking via , he said: “I thought Ben Davies was outstanding. He’s getting a run of games.
“We’ve got to be mindful he’s not a centre-back and he’s growing into that role. Ben is still adapting to it. He’s done remarkably well.
“Centre-back is still a position, especially in our structure, where you need outstanding attributes and we’ve been very fortunate to have him that he’s been able to adapt there.
“He’s great at taking on information. He’s been helped by having Romero back and Vic has taken on a leadership role back there as well.
“We need to sign another centre-back though because at the moment we’re only tenterhooks in case something else happens there.”
Ange Postecoglou full of praise for Tottenham’s Ben Davies ahead of Forest
Of course, it is particularly interesting to see Postecoglou reiterate his need for a centre-back in January.
It was believed that the manager wanted another signing in the position in the summer, something that would now look wise.

And ahead of January, it seems that Postecoglou is leaving nothing to chance by stating his need in public.
Davies is an excellent squad player to have, someone who can cover both centrally and on the left, but he’s not a future starter in this side.
And perhaps Tottenham will now chase a £40m option that has been considered their priority signing when the window opens.
It’s a huge window for Postecoglou and Tottenham, and ahead of this Forest trip, the manager will hope that his side can continue to win before reinforcements arrive.
Micky van de Ven and James Maddison could also return in January, it’s just a matter of keeping Spurs’ season alive until then.
